I'm not sure how "sexism" is being used in this context.

Are we talking about "why aren't there more pretty boys" or "stop complaining about upskirt shots because I have to see skintight male bulges too"?

(Anonymous) 2024-08-31 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
The way it's worded, it sounds like "sexism" is all the girls looking identical. Which is weird because I've never heard anyone say that's what the sexism is.

Are the identical hot guys in that picture or...?

(Anonymous) 2024-08-31 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm squinting at it and going 'those... aren't my idea of husbandos at ALL'.

I mean, it looks like a bara game which traditionally caters to gay dudes who are into muscle but even with the samey bara style, the characters look fairly diverse and not particularly identical.

DA, but I was thinking this, too. The weight range, age range, and level of muscles (from svelte to very ripped) here is something I've never seen in a game aimed at straight guys.

I actually don't care when it's all female or all male gacha games. Where it does bother me is in gacha games that have both male and female characters, but the waifus outnumber the husbandos at least 3:1 and also have significantly skimpier/ more fetishy clothes (see Genshin Impact with it's naked thigh fetish for female characters).

This is also an issue with Another Eden. I feel like half the cast is in their underwear and it's usually the ladies.

this is one of the reasons I love Fire Emblem Heroes so much - the female fanservice is kind of there in the special outfits but there are half naked men too and everyone in their normal FE gear looks so non fetishy and normal.

These things aren't remotely equivalent? Male and female fanservice not being 1:1 aside, the men in Housamo aren't even identical. BomBom has a sameface issue and a lot of the artists have a "type", but I can still tell the characters apart.

Damn, the name made me excited that this would be a youkai boys thing but that is the weirdest mismatch of audiences and designs I have ever seen. Buff guys, generic furries that aren't even monsters, and random girly waifus (or are they femboys?)

(Anonymous) 2024-09-01 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
There's at least one femboy character in TAS back when I played, but those are women. I guess it's to throw a bone for the straight men and WLW who might play, since it heavily skews towards the bara crowd.

I've never seen so much geikomi sameface in one place...

It would be a fun statistical project to:

a) count the number of games with virtually identical women
b) count the number of games with virtually identical men
c) of the set of games that fall into either or both of those categories, look at the overall number of identical women vs unique women, overall identical men vs. unique men
d) other fun statistical games from that data set
