(Anonymous) 2024-09-06 04:50 am (UTC)(link)This afternoon I was on the actual phone with a friend I made in the late 90s over a book fandom and then she had a long commute and free long distance on her cellphone while I didn't have a job, and then I had a long commute and free long distance to anyone with the same cellphone company while she didn't have a job and we just spent about three hours this afternoon cackling over amazingly bad fic and also over exactly how I'm planning to stuff Halloween up my boyfriend's nose over the next month, it was amazing
and then I got off the phone because it was time to fix dinner, in my boyfriend's place which has fandom art all over the walls bc I met him on the internet too, and our roommate who is also from fandom was able to join us today.
People from fandom have the same amount of drama as people who aren't from fandom; the pro is that they may share your interests. The con is if you have a bad friend/roommate/romantic breakup you may also have to part ways online which can suck if you are the one who does not get the best Discord in the breakup
