Getting started is easy! Just google “hiking spots near me” and you’ll start to find places. Google Maps shows hiking trails when you’re zoomed in but I think you need to be zoomed in kinda far.
You can check out your state parks and also google what national lands are nearby. The National Park system has scenic and recreation areas all over, plus there are national forests and also BLM sites. When I move, I always google “pretty hiking places near [new town]” and then start picking from there.

The hardest part for me is getting what gear I need. I know my shoes are not good for hiking. I need to go to like a REI but the nearest is like four hours away.
