I feel like a hipster saying this (do people even say hipster anymore?), but, idk how these folks ever were fans of Elon Musk. From the moment I saw him, he looked like a villain, and I never liked him or his vibe. And then when I learned he was South African and his daddy owned emerald mines? smh let's be for real.

But outside of the times in years past where I'd say this to friends who thought he was cool, I just want to shout "I TOLD Y'ALL SO" from the rooftops.

He has-- maybe more like *had*-- a certain charisma or persuasiveness that made it sound like he knew what he was talking about. I remember a quote from a programmer who thought he was quite brilliant about electric cars, but when he started talking about coding he realized Musk was a bullshitter and started reevaluating his claims about electric cars...

I know I thought he was reasonably clever (having not known about his involvement with PayPal at the time) but when he started slinging accusations of pedophilia at people pointing out flaws in his rescue submarine idea that went out the window fast.

He paid to be included/name dropped in a bunch of pop culture stuff which created the illusion that he was just a benign nerd with goodwill toward him when really that was just early evidence he's a total loser desperate to be liked.
