Who gossips to you will gossip about you, and anyone who thinks self-esteem comes from shitting on others just isn't going to be a good person to be around.

Yeah, this is why I actively run away from work gossip (even in virtual form).

Oddly, this reminds me of a time when I got into a discussion on Instagram where someone was defending gossip and splitting hairs between gossip and backbiting. I admit I did learn the term backbiting from all this, but that was the most worthwhile part of the whole conversation.
