No but FR, why an AI image?

(Anonymous) 2024-09-08 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
And if they didn't want it pointed out, why point it out?

(Anonymous) 2024-09-08 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel like this is some sort of social experiment were OP secretly wants people to argue about the AI image so they can prove some sort of point.

(Anonymous) 2024-09-08 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
They pointed out so you automatically focus on this.
Also this image makes no goddamn sense.

Ridiculous secret from all accounts

(Anonymous) 2024-09-09 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
The only bit I'm puzzled about is the cape sown to her sleeve.

(Anonymous) 2024-09-08 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Now I think you're full of shit for multiple reasons.

(Anonymous) 2024-09-08 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh, I agree. I understand that I'm proship by definition because I DLDR or harass people, but I still find the label super loaded, I disagree with nearly every proshipper I've encountered on different subjects, and I just prefer talking to people who don't neatly fit into these black-and-white boxes that flat out didn't exist until 2015 or so. There's use to saying "you technically are proship if X" since in most of my fandoms "proship" is a scary boogeyman, but individuals on both sides can be equally toxic in different ways even if antis are worse. I don't live in your country and I don't speak your language, et cetera.

Eh. Shipping isn’t important, but the proship position is a subset of a pro-speech position I do think is important. If you can get people to recognize they’re being played when they try to purge shipfic, maybe, possibly they’ll recognize they’re being played when they try to purge “hate speech.”

(Anonymous) 2024-09-08 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Mind elaborating on the hate speech part? I notice people in this debate have a hard time defining that.

(Anonymous) 2024-09-08 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Actual hate speech: Publicly expressing hatred of and/or violence toward a person or group of people based on an immutable characteristic.

What pro-censorship people think hate speech is: What you said makes me feel bad.

I’m drawing a political line here, from “I’m telling the FBI tip line about your fanfic” (NOT a hypothetical situation) to “I’m reporting your hate speech to the government.” If people call it hate speech, giving a government the power to restrict it is generally a bad idea. I reluctantly admit there need to be SOME limits on active incitement, but even then, any precedent you set for banning “kill the Jews” will be weaponized against you if you say “kill the rich.”

What in the sam hill

(Anonymous) 2024-09-08 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
This has to be a troll secret, right? The AI comment + feminist example just screams troll to me.

thinking the same, this is too much

(Anonymous) 2024-09-08 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
This is funny to me because my own past experiences of people caring more about the feminist label than the actual beliefs and actions are why I can't vibe with the people who try to force the pro-ship label on others, even though I use the label for myself. Labels can be handy but there's plenty of reasons why someone might prefer to not use them and someone's actions should always be more important than what labels they use.

Even as a "pro-shipper" myself, I usually don't deliberately call myself such online because I believe that believing in "proship" ideals just makes you a normal person compared to the neo-puritans that are antis. Overall this secret is kind of stupid, as is the image.

(Anonymous) 2024-09-09 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm pleased that "feminist" of my childhood is basically normal now (like equal pay for male or female employees) and now we're working on the harder parts of it. Pro-shipping is the same thing, just normal.

(Anonymous) 2024-09-09 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
yeah well too many people on some spaces like twitter still think "proship" means "problematic ship" specifically and you'll have fuckers with "EW PROSHIP DNI" in their bio being like "it's just enemies to lovers...whats wrong with that" when someone bashes their ship.

Hell on one forum on Toyhouse (the oc) site some were saying apparently even "pro-fiction" is a bad thing because "problematic fiction"

*sigh*

amtis/fanpols have spread this bullshit misinterpretation so far and it pisses me off I can't use that word in some places.
