TLJ was divisive. When it initially came out, many people liked it a lot and many people disliked it a lot. It was pretty even either way.

Subsequently, over the following weeks and months and years, the loud rude toxic haters (which is a subset of the people who disliked it) drowned out the people who liked, to the point where people can say with a straight face that everyone hated the movie or that it was only disliked. The fact that people can sincerely believe that is a marker of how much the people who hated it drowned out all dissenting opinions.

And that basic imbalance still exists in how people talk about the movie, quite frankly.

This sums it up perfectly, IMO.
