One of the places I actually want to go to in America is the Minnesota state fair. We have fairs here (Australia) but not to that scale as they’re mostly country fairs with sheep and cattle shows and baking and cat pavilions, and the deep fried everything is also a temptation.

Cat pavilions??

I've never seen a cat pavilion at a show, probably because I only go to small ones. Now I feel like I'm missing out. Still, there are always the fancy chickens to look at :P

I've only come across one at the Sydney Easter Show.

The Illinois State Fair is pretty good, too. There's lots of agricultural stuff, but there's also a pretty good amusement area, a lot of craft, gardening and cooking competitions, 4H things, a horse show, an ethnic festival and tons of deliciuous foods like corn dogs, funnel cakes and fresh tom thumb doughnuts.
