It's funny, but I live in one of the old suburbs of a sprawling mid-size city, and the surrounding county does have a county fair with 4H and quilting/art/photography/etc competitions, and deep fried food and rides and stuff, but there just isn't much agricultural stuff here anymore because housing and thus land is so damn expensive and there's also a bunch of other smaller cities in the county with suburbs where it's not legal to keep cattle or whatever.

I guess maybe some of the livestock competition people could live in and raise their critters in the cities? It's legal to keep chickens and (miniature) goats in the city I live in. And horses, but you need to have an acre of land to keep them on, and if you have an acre of undeveloped land/pasture within city limits you're a billionaire.

Idk, the county fair just doesn't seem like the one big event that everyone goes to and talks about, because there's so much else to do here and hardly anyone farms.

It’s also a good way to find out what middle-aged to elderly musicians are still performing without going to a political rally.
