But what's the problem here?

I mean ideally it should be easy to filter out but. Self inserts, who cares?

I'm confused. Did I say it's a problem?

I said it's not an M/F, M/M, or F/F issue, i.e. no reason to be particularly mean or meaner to M/F fic writers for doing it over anyone else doing it, because it's something everyone does.

It's usually crap writing and you can't actually filter it out easily because the character whose real personality got replaced by the self insert blank slate is still tagged as that character, not a self insert. So you never know until you read and notice it.
