Re: Smelly people

When I was in elementary school there was a kid who was constantly mocked for being smelly, and I ended up kind of befriending him because I figured either it wasn't by choice, in which case it would be unfair to dislike him for it, or it was by choice as a fuck you to the mockery, in which case he was by far the coolest kid in class.

Anyway I didn't make the connection until I was older but eventually I realized his family was poor; he needed special sizing so he only owned one pair of school appropriate pants; his family had to go to a laundromat to do laundry and his parents were always working so his pants got washed about once a month.

There's lots of reasons someone might not be able to devote obsessive effort to making sure none of their molecules reach your sensory organs, or might find it a lot more difficult than most people.
