We drive to a destination (visiting family) that's an 18-hour drive and we do this once a year or so. It's a two-day trip. Yes, it's pretty grueling! I didn't mind it as much when I was 25 vs 45.

I've done one 12 hour and one 9 hour drive in two days before, just stopping for gas, bathroom breaks, and snacks.

A couple of considerations: if you have two or more people in the car, it's usually cheaper than flying because gas isn't as expensive here as some other places. And you can swap out drivers. Plus, then you have your car at your destination. Some road trips are better than others, if the scenery is good.

I prefer trains :'D
Also I really hate having car in a city, such a bother.
My father though is 12 hour drive kind of guy.
