I'm mixed on that phrase "I never learned as a child." On the one hand... you can certainly learn as an adult. On the other... that tells me this person was neglected as a child, and when you don't learn about self-care in childhood, or nobody teaches you that it's a basic way to value oneself, the struggle is real. So I wouldn't write it off as simply being lazy.

Don't get me wrong, I also wouldn't get with somebody who never brushes their teeth, because it is still their responsibility to learn what they didn't as a child, and I'm not their parent. I'm just saying I can understand why somebody might have difficulties when it comes to self-care/hygiene when it stems from a poor upbringing.
