You say this like Rock Lee didn't come back and continued to have his own series.

I loved it!

It had fantastic character moments, humor, and Sakuga, but it wasn't taken very seriously. It certainly didn't espouse hard workers being on par with people with bloodline abilities or geniuses. Last I heard, it wasn't canon, either.

Still, it was such a good show, and I highly recommend it!
