You're wrong, OP. Me and my anime clone from another dimension commit selfcest all the time after we read a fic about it on AO3. If only we hadn't read that fic, none of this would have happened, and we'd have remained lifelong anime rivals with unresolved sexual tension instead.

Oh god, I feel this. Worst is when someone makes a mix and they decide to put multiple albums worth of music from one artist on it. Your mix does not need to be 76 songs long with 25 songs by Mitski Dx (And then 15 by Mother Mother. And another 12 by Will Wood...)

(also no shade to these bands, I do like them, but. There's a limit!)

I can see how people might consider selfcest to be closer to identical twincest than masturbation. It sort of depends on the specific situation as to how I see it, though I have no problem with it either way in fic. So, I think there is an argument to be had for genuine real-world parallels, even if I do think that the supposition that reading selfcest is going to cause anyone to do crime is ridiculous.

I love finding songs that apply to a ship, regardless of the decade or genre. Even if I don't care about the ship itself! It's just fun. I'm not a fan of when people try to force a song just because they so badly want it to fit a ship. Also, some songs are far too... broad in meaning? That I feel it doesn't do anything for the ship at all.

Of course, I'm also guilty of thinking "yeah, this section of song is enough" even if other parts of the song don't quite gel or just outright contradict a ship.

I think there's always going to be an element of people just saying "I don't care, I just fucking love this song" and honestly that's fine. It just has to be kept at reasonable levels. It's an art, not a science.

For remakes in general, certain Oscars should be off the table unless significant changes in writing were made, yes. But my main issue is how a lot of US remakes of foreign movies are just worse copies of their originals. And those get praise while the original movies get ignored.
