At least in my case, not every ship I have leads to the same spark of creativity in my brain. I have a couple of F/F ships, but I only write for the pairing that made me go, “Oh, the canon’s stupid, I’m gonna fix it”.

Yeah, I say I prefer m/m but some of my all-time favorite ships are f/f, I just don't know what to do with them as far as fandom goes. I'm pretty much only into "how they got together" fics, but for my ships: Utena/Anthy is perfect in canon already, and it's the open-endedness that I like so I'm not into exploring what happens next. I'm currently into Gideon/Harrow, and I know it's being set up to become canon eventually so any "how they got together" fic is just going to be moot to me. This has happened before with ships of mine that become canon, where I read tons of getting-together fic and then it's canon and suddenly those fics don't work for me anymore. And I just don't feel like going down that road again.
