But which fanon? Because part of me is "oh heck yeah" but the part that has read some weird fanon is very hesitant lol

The stuff that appears in almost all Sentinel AUs. Guides are an actual thing and not just some rando and they are intrinsically calming for their Sentinel, at the very least, if not people in general. They must be genetically or spiritually compatible with a Sentinel, so neither can just have any partner. Both of them have spirit guides. It's been so long, I can't remember if the whole going-evil-makes-you-dormant thing is canon or fanon, but definitely that.

I would prefer a modern reboot of canon!Sentinel. I've never been that big if a fan of the the fanon AUs, mostly because o many devolved into extreme Guide whump.

Do we all remember that popular Sentinel AU where Guides were essentially slaves and Blair was the most abused, traumatized, special little bean, ever?
