Characterization changes you disagree with.

Did an adaptation of a favorite book/comic/other media make you facepalm with how they handled the characters? Tell us!

So much with Elrond. A lot of the LOTR character adaptions work, but a few don't. Elrond is the biggest for me. In the books, he's been through more than almost everyone, suffered so much loss, and yet he's still so full of joy and hope. And I just don't see that from the movie version. He's one of my favorite characters in the book. I like Hugo Weaving, but he's not right as Elrond.

Also, Gimli in the movies is okay, but the book version is much better. Movie version is kind of played as a joke too much.

I hate Wicked the book and love the musical, but Boq was one of the few characters I liked in the book and the musical did him so dirty.

As much as I enjoy the tv series Interview with the Vampire, I was initially mad at the character changes of Louis. I do like TV!Louis, but he's a lot less of the wet-soppy cat of a man from the books and movie. In all honesty I feel like they might as well have come up with a completely different character instead - but I'm mostly over that now tbh.

I know what you mean, but TV Louis is written and acted so well that I'm okay with it!

Lestat is perfect to me, though. Sam Reid is such a fan of the books, and it shows.

While the Disney TV show improved in a lot of places, I've yet to find a good adaptation of Hades from the Percy Jackson and The Olympians series.

Movie = I'm like the devil, right?

TV show = unbothered and at most annoyed

In the books, Hades was intimidating but poised. Tired and frustrated, but in no rush to display impatience. Guess it was hard to execute that on Disney kids' show.
