Re: Books you regularly re-read

I used to re-read Ella Enchanted about once a year, but I haven't read it in the past couple of years.

It's not a regular thing, but I have read Homecoming and Dicey's Song by Cynthia Voight several times. Every few years I get a hankering for it so dive back in. Sometimes I'll read the rest of the Tillerman books, but often it's just those two.

I revisit Tamora Pierce's books, most often among them being Protector of the Small.

They are all comfort books for me.

Wow, you just revived some long-buried memories of reading Homecoming and Dicey’s Song as a child. I couldn’t have told you those titles, but when you mentioned them, I looked them up and that was exactly what we read in second grade!

Maybe I’ll give them another look as an adult.

Whoa, second grade! That seems young. I think they hold up for adult reading, though you do have to remember they are a product of their time. There are some odd bits here and there.

I have a vague memory of Ella Enchanted being like ... eventually a deconstruction of the "spelled to follow every order given" premise, but also sort of submission!kink in stealth mode for young adults. In a G-rated book.
