Ugh same. Except I did like Pokemon when it was newly popular and people did crazy things to get the Pokemon Happy Meal toys at McDonald's, so liking Pokemon would've gotten me dirty looks from teachers as well as classmates. The cool kids in class would make jokes about Pokemon fans all being dangerous and the downfall of society, and the teachers laughed with them.

One of the times I told a girl I was casual friends with that I liked anime, she basically called me a pervert. Because people back then thought all anime that wasn't Pokemon was porn.
