Oh man, I HATED the Josh/Donna thing. Like... there were some good bits! The line where he says if she was in the hospital, he wouldn't stop for a beer and she said she wouldn't stop for a red light? Fantastic, wish it had been between literally ANY other two characters.

I didn't think Josh and Mandy were better together, but they did do her kind of dirty. I didn't ship Josh with any of the women on the show but out of all of them I think Joey King was the best and if he was going to end up with someone it should have been HER.

Agree on all points, but: Joey Lucas! (Who should have been Jewish, like Marlee Matlin is, but I'll accept how she was written, she ruled when she was allowed to.) Joey King is the actress from Uglies.

I think... Aaron Sorkin tried to write a pushy, brilliant Jewish woman and he Just Couldn't figure out what to actually do with her, because his misogyny is weird but his discomfort with every Jewish woman he's ever known is apparently insurmountable. Signed, a lady Jew.

Ohhh that makes sense - I have had a long running joke about how Sorkin simply can't write brunettes (Mandy, Amy, Emily Mortimer's character from Newsroom) but never got more specific

I didn't mind Josh & Donna getting together when they did - any earlier and it would have been annoying but we were so close to the end that we didn't have to really see their relationship evolve.
I also really loved the relative spontaneity of it - overcome by delight at good poll numbers.

I think I would have found Mandy/Josh slightly less annoying than Donna/Josh, so if her presence meant that Mandy and josh got back together I would have been fine with that. Or she could have pointed out how very skeevy it would be for him to start anything with Donna, since he's her boss. Mandy would have kept him real.

Ever after Donna stopped working for Josh the dynamic didn't really recover, I think.
