Tropes you want more of

The opposite of yesterday's thread. What tropes do you want to see more of? What tropes do you wish were more popular?

More platonic friends! I hate the whole trope where everybody in the friend group eventually dates each other, just let people be friends!

I mean there can be some couples within the friend group, but I just don't want the "if they are close friends they eventually try dating at some point or are secretly romantically attracted" kind of trope.

Ughhhh, yes, this. Not everyone has to be matched up with someone else, and I've never seen this done well when it's more than two couples. It ends up being some kind of "pair the spares" situation where oh well they have no chemistry or real relationship development, they're just together because no singletons allowed! SO obnoxious.

Ride or die friendships that aren't toxic. Found Family that doesn't get weird about slotting people into specific mom/dad/sibling roles and basically getting all OOC in the traditional nuclear family role-playing approach.

Villains who are just evil for fun.

Platonic friends who are the opposite sex.

Healthy and happy families outside of sitcoms.

More platonic friends, please!

Another vote for platonic friends.

Also, good parents who don't tragically die. I know that's a motivator in some cases but it's played out.

I love the arranged marriage trope where the couple starts off as not enemies, per se, but not romantically interested in one another. It's a business arrangement, or a political alliance, that kind of thing. Maybe they even have someone they're in love with, but cannot be with. But over time, the married couple finds out they really like and respect one another, that they're a team, etc. and it leads to a romance.
