I saw one of these anti-“woke” types have an epiphany not long ago. He realized that the game his buddies were flipping out over (Dungeons of Hinterberg) didn’t say anything particularly woke other than “black people exist.” The story is about ignorant tourists and a greedy mayor ruining a small town, which both left-wing and right-wing types could get behind. His friends could have liked it if they hadn’t immediately jumped to hating it.

Reminds of the people who freaked out when Horizon: Zero Dawn came out. "Female protagonist raised in a matriarchal society? Clearly it was made by MAN-HATERS!!!!!" Never mind that said matriarchal society is superstitious and oppressive. And never mind that they would never, ever argue that a game with a male protagonist raised in patriarchal society must have been raised by woman-haters.

They prove the very thing they try to deny, don't they?

Did the guy manage to realise that he was part of the problem as well or did the epiphany stop at his friends' behaviour?
