We own a house because our cosplay habit outgrew any apartment we could ever afford. I've done my best to keep any individual fabric purchase to under $100, but multiple fabrics add up, then there's wigs and makeup, then the cost of traveling to cons...

I've probably saved more than I've spent in the last 25 years thanks to smart shopping, freebies, staying with family instead of hotels, good budgeting, repurposing items, etc, but there's 21 bins of fabric and an embroidery machine that cost as much as a car in the basement. I've made entire costumes for under $20 but I'm also looking at about $200-250 invested into Astarion so far and I haven't even worn it yet. Does going to Japan to shop Nippori Textile Town and finally finding the green leather for a pair of gloves count?
