I don't on principle have a problem with cis actors playing trans characters in settings where perfect transition to cis bodies is a possible thing. I also don't on principle have a problem with trans actors playing cis characters either. If it works on screen, it works.

I'd only worry about the meta aspect of it, where productions might use the setting being sci fi as the perfect excuse to simply not look for, or at, IRL trans actors, or even have that listed as part of the character's casting call.
