Really well said.

One of my trans male friends had bottom surgery a few years ago, and he asked the surgeon whether it would be possible for him to keep his vagina while also gaining a penis.

The surgeon was amenable but said that the only way they could see that working would be for the penis to be aesthetic rather than functional--which was very much not what my friend wanted, so he opted for bottom surgery in which his vagina was removed.

But if my friend lived in an SF or fantasy world in which that sort of medical procedure was possible in the exact way he wanted it, then he could've had it all. :-)
