Cosigned. Fake clickbait content is making people dumber and more gullible.

Yeah like... most of those videos fall apart as soon as you ask yourself "why was there a camera set up and perfectly angled to catch this totally spontaneous situation?". But so many people are just ready to believe anything.

UGH, yes.
I keep unfollowing reaction Youtubers tho do those "Am I the Asshole" reaction videos, because soooo many stories are just so obviously fake. Can't tell if they know that or not.
Same with reactions to TikTok rage bait.

If we're talking just subreddit readers, I wish they all would stop covering the nuclear revenge and related stories. Those are more or less 95% creative writing exercises. (Traumatize them back is catching up FAST though.)

Interesting how F!S considers stories from certain subreddits fake while screaming outrage on stories from other subreddits because those are all so obviously real.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-06 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Ah yes, the collective opinion of F!S as a monolith.
Also, have an example for that? And yeah, some subs are more commonly known to be full of made up stories than others, it's not actually that hard to understand.

SA as above

I don't think all stories from AITA are fake? I just think there are ones that obviously are and those usually get chosen by youtubers because they're so nicely black/white.

Yeah, especially all those outrage farming "abusive relationship" videos are so bad. Like, what are these people thinking? Aren't the guys who play the "abusive bf" aware that this will likely massively backfire on them someday? Sure, they make money with it in the moment but those videos of them "mistreating" their partners are out there now, likely forever.

it feels like you don't understand the content economy a bit. limited shtick content reactors require baity content.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-05 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I understand it, I just still think it sucks.
