What fandoms are you sad you've moved on?

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2024-10-05 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't really read a lot of Captain America fic these days. Endgame was really the beginning of the end for my love for the fandom. I still check out the Steve Rogers tag every day but nothing really strikes my fancy. :(

Big same. I miss being in love with Bucky and Steve but the movies just killed it for me. That has never happened before, I am usually a "canon, what canon? We do what we want" kind of fan but not this time apparently.

I held on for a while but just...fell off slowly. :(

I'm sad that i can't recapture the lightning in a bottle phenom of Yu Yu Hakusho fandom ca. 2004. I've picked up a few of the very nice new figures coming out for the anniversary (since all we had was shit back in the day) but I just can't get back into the fic and art.

Same. I have a policy for only watching tv shows that have ended and never thought to do the same for a movie series. I have tried to get back into Stucky fic, but people keep incorporating Endgame or the show and I just cannot with that.

It was such a garbage ending for them. Especially Steve.

This is why I use the date function to limit stories to 2015 or earlier. I’m pretending Winter Soldier just came out.

I was massively into Kylux back in the day but for obvious reasons, the numbers of good fic for this ship started to decline and I lost interest. I still like the ship and go looking for fic on occasion but I always end up scrolling through several pages of stuff that doesn't interest me (even after filtering out tags that I dislike) and give up in frustration.

Let us shake hands and be anon friends, friend. I got in on the trash compactor basement of Kylux, and I still find myself thinking about the old TFA kinkmeme that made me a believer. That place was fun for those first few weeks/months.

I've tried to find fics to read now and then, too, and I can't really find anything that piques my interest, either. Even when I limit the search to certain years on AO3, hoping I missed something good.

It also doesn't help that I can't find a lot of the old fanart I vaguely remember on Tumblr and etc anymore. (I'm not in the habit of saving or bookmarking fanart, so idk the artists' names. I'm pretty sure some were TOSsed and purged from certain sites anyway. :/)

Olympics RPF, but I suspect that at my age it would be weirder to keep partaking in it.

My falling out of love started before you sadly, Civil War basically killed it because in that movie they barely felt like friends and got no time to exist together without something happening. I haven't been back since and I do know the love for that ship has died.

Civil War killed my love for Steve/Tony. :(

Same. Civil War killed any love I had for the MCU

Bit of a weird one: I was intensively into KinnPorsche for a while (normal for me), until I fell out of the fandom a few months back (also normal for me). Since then, I've also seem to completely have lost my sex drive, which is very weird.

My libido goes to sleep for a bit regularly, but no more than a few days and it was always related to my period. This is more extreme and has gone on for several months. And it started around the same time I stopped being interested in KinnPorsche.

I'm genuinely wondering if the two are related. Did my loss of sex drive lead to becoming disinterested in the fandom (it's a VERY horny fandom)?
Or did I subconsciously link my libido to the fandom given how it's like, 90 % kinky porn and when I burnt out on the fandom, I burnt out on anything sexual as well?

I'm very baffled. And would like my libido back, kthx.

KinnPorsche is one I keep trying to get into but can't. But the fanfic seems so hot.

AYRT

Honestly, I basically jumped in with the fanfic. I tried watching the show on my first attempt to get into the fandom, but it didn't grab me and I quit after three or four episodes.

On the second attempt I just went straight to the fic and that's the one that stuck because yeah, the fic really is that hot, lol.

I'm not sure I'm sad I moved on. I'd read new fics in some of my old fandoms like Buffy or Highlander if there were any I'm interested in but older fandoms having less and less material made me move on to newer fandoms that I enjoy a lot too. As for fandoms I deliberately moved on from like HP or LoTR, I feel I've read everything I liked in them. I'm happy just reading a few fics that come from annual events when I feel like it. I'd say I'm more nostalgic about favorite authors who have stopped writing or who have moved on to fandoms I'm not into.

Similarly, I'm a bit sad I've moved on from the MCU. With the pandemic, and way too much bloat from Disney, as well as some weird... writing/directing choices... I feel like I'm done. Maybe I'll catch up on a couple of the movies one day but that's about it.

I'm also sad I moved on from ASoIaF. Not sad I left the toxic comm, though.

Been harder to participate in fandoms lately. I've been limited to random fanworks for my current obsessions (usually video game related).
