I think a lot of people are forgetting that she's only 26, which means she is part of the generation that has grown up being on social media 24/7. It's really easy for us to say "well just get off the internet!" because we remember a time without constant social media access... she probably doesn't. It is a lot harder to just "get off the internet and stop replying" when people just aren't taught to disconnect.

Tangentially related, I suspect a solid amount of this bad parenting is linked to members of older generations who toe the line of being terminally online.

(And yes, I do wish there were more conversations about the dangers of being middle aged and terminally online. This phenomenon has played a role in the spread of mis/disinformation.)
