They've actually changed Ethel's hair and stopped giving her buck teeth recently.
I didn't feel like she was there to be mocked when I was a kid. She always seemed really comfortable with herself and had the confidence to go after what she wanted. The only thing really wrong with that was the way she pursued Jughead even though he wasn't interested.
