people in one of my writing servers just absolutely BITCHING about their fics not doing 'numbers' with complaints like "I only have 50 kudos on the fic I posted last night! My last one got 600 in that time and this is ROBBERY!" and "My hits haven't moved in three hours is this the end of my writing career??" and I feel like that 'We're the Miller's' meme and I'm like 'YOU GUYS ARE GETTING HITS??' like have some fucking awareness here christ.

I've noticed an uptic in that kind of talk too. With one author in particular it put me off reading their stuff, and therefore kudoing it.

Lmao I get excited when I get a kudos and that usually happens a couple of days after I post.

Yikes. I have had to deal with that. Wishing you a lot of peace from such energies nonny.

I already had to scroll past writers constantly posting how their numbers are "off" mere hours/days after they publish a fic.
Add in when I was in a writer group where that happened a lot with specific writers. What really got to me would be those same writers would bully other writers by downplaying/ignoring other writers' gripes/vents (similar energy when it came to other writers' celebrations/milestones - BNFs sometimes were exceptions).

Left the group when I couldn't stand the handful of spoiled apples taking up all the space, expecting that the rest of us were simply there to throw out positive and reassuring affirmations to them.

Kind of sad. I don't think any number will be enough for these people.

My highest kudos count is about 170 on a multi-chaptered fic I started in 2018 and ended in 2020. But I feel satisfied that I earned those kudos and don't feel the need to gain more, much less demand them.
