Cop and cop theater I see as two different things. Cops? Be careful in real life. Actually watching the real cops shows just makes me feel bad for the people getting pulled over or whatever.

Cop theater is different. With real cops you know that they're not going to treat you like Jake from B99. It's a show for entertainment. Law and Order is the same. It's about good guys trying to catch bad guys. It just so happens that the good guys in this case are cops because that makes for an easy setting that people can generally follow without much exposition. That can absolutely be entertaining. The best part is you get to know these characters in said character-driven stories. (Because, again, the cop part is dressing.)

The only problem is when people mix fiction and real life. As long as you don't do that, and I don't think you are, everything is fine. I don't see a reason for guilt or shame in this. People are allowed to like what they like.
