When people react to cyberbullying with "well you can just turn off the computer silly!" like no that's not... that makes about as much sense as "well just ignore them" It doesn't seem to understand how being bullied affects a person and that it gets under your skin so you can't just "turn off the computer" and make it go away. Just like the memory of your classmates taunts doesn't magically vanish because you went home.

While disconnecting from social media can help when dealing with harassment putting it as "turn off the computer and the problem goes away" is an insulting oversimplification. And sometimes there is an issue to be solved underneath it.

It also doesn't help if it's used to just facilitate rumors being spread about you. The bullies will still be there and in real life spreading the same hate.

I find the people who say "turn your computer off" are the same people who say "just ignore it". They don't have a real solution or answer to the problem so they just try and make it go away.
