I know you said it is exhausting and from the tone I am assuming not that fun for you, but I find this really sweet. You are encouraging her to read and think more and with a (presumably) safe oerson and I just think that is really sweet of you. I don't think my sister would ever, even if I dared asked.

Here's hoping that by reading with you she can learn how to actually read. Not just knowing which letters make which sounds, but being able to actually critically engage with the text.

While it does sound exhausting I hope you don't give up the two-person book club. Your sister clearly likes spending time with you and you're helping her read better and bonding with her at the same time. I wish my sister wanted to do this with me, or you know, even talk to me but that's a secret for another confession.

That sounds very frustrating! I’m kinda torn on this one. I like what the other commenters are saying but I don’t really have a good frame of reference for how to maintain a good relationship with a sibling. Part of me is saying that in your shoes, I’d make excuses to stop doing it.
Idk
Maybe now that you’ve realized this about her, you can kinda anticipate that as you read and prepare yourself for how discussions are likely to go. I do think it would be awesome if you could keep doing it and help her broaden her comprehension and develop a sense for nuance, foreshadowing, and multilayered effects.

It's good of you to do this, OP. But I'm really curious to know more details about the stuff your sister doesn't know.

i also love that you do this, and if you want suggestions, i would try to think about what books you loved when you were at her level of literacy and introduce her to your faves

Side note: I really wish there was a specific term for fictional media comprehension and not reusing "media literacy" in this particular context. I recognize words and phrases can have multiple meanings. However, in a skillet this nuanced, I think separate terms are going to make life easier for everyone involved.
