Idk if the image choice is intentional or just an unfortunate coincidence but no matter how hard you ship House/Wilson, both are very clearly shown to be heterosexual in canon.

But a lot of the other examples on that page aren't.

That's the actual Heterosexual Life Partners trope page. It's meant to illustrate the trope of 'these two aren't a couple, but can be mistaken for one'.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-15 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah I got that. But the secret is about ships that aren’t like House and Wilson so it’s weird that they didn’t crop the image or use literally any other artwork.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-15 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
this is like being mad at someone using the default image on a wikipedia page screencap. it's not an endorsement of that particular thing, it's a Web page screencap.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-15 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
You’re right, it would be weird to use artwork of a ship to illustrate a secret about ships *eye roll*

(Anonymous) 2024-10-15 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
Except that literally no one is saying that. People are pointing out that OP didn't choose that image, it's on the website. Maybe write a stiffly worded e-mail to TV Tropes instead of acting like OP has personally wronged you?

(Anonymous) 2024-10-15 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Dude. TV tropes has the perfect image for the entry. But it’s a shit image for the secret unless OP is talking about this ship. Which they might be because there is at least one delusional nutjob who thinks House and Wilson aren’t heterosexual.
Way to miss the point though.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-15 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)
No it's not a shit image for the secret because the image for the secret isn't an isolated image of the ship, it's literally a screenshot of the tropes page. The ship in question has NOTHING to do with the secret text and everyone except you understood this.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-15 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
not everyone knows everything about every fandom. also iirc this came from a "secrets you don't want to make" thread, so op didn't even choose the image.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-15 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
I mean, both are clearly shown to have relationships with women. At least one ep does imply House is bisexual.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-15 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Try again. I’m a hardcore House/Wilson shipper and they’re both explicitly heterosexual in canon.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-15 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
You seem aggressively invested in the fictional sexual preferences of two imaginary middle-aged men who rode off into the sunset together over a decade ago.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-15 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, just hate the delusional shippers who did a fantastic job of destroying the fandom back in its heyday. Fans like that ruin everything they touch. It’s why it’s so amusing that TV Tropes has that ship as then main image for the entry, I will apparently never get tired of seeing those fans faces rubbed in reality.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-15 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
Explicitly, except for the episode that implies one of them isn't? Huh?

(Anonymous) 2024-10-15 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
What episode is that? Genuine question. What episode implies to the audience at large, not just shippers who can’t take their shipping goggles off, that either character isn’t heterosexual?

(Anonymous) 2024-10-15 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, keep telling yourself that.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-15 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
lol this is making me miss the fandom and the ship wars tbh

(Anonymous) 2024-10-15 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
Do you know how TV tropes works? Just because the cover image is a correct example doesnt mean there aren't a lot of trope examples further down the site that fit with the secret.

Secret maker (but not the OP) here...

(Anonymous) 2024-10-15 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
This is a comment secret, so the OP didn't choose this specific image, I did. I just screencapped the TVTropes page for "heterosexual life partners" so as to include a brief explanation of the trope as context for the secret. It wasn't meant to suggest that the characters pictured are a good choice for the trope - I'm not familiar enough with the fandom or the pairing, so I didn't know either way.

It wasn't meant to be a personal slight of any kind.

Cheers,

a secret maker

Secret comment OP here - thank you for making this secret. I actually don't think it's a bad picture choice at all because everyone except that ayrt above understand that this picture is just the screencap and not an isolated ship image.
