Yeah, there's no such thing as thought crimes, but there are an awful lot of people here who really, really want there to be.

Yeah, the let’s “haul ’em off to the salt mines“ attitude is unfortunately alive and well.

Or people are just that damned salty about work these days.

Even joking about hurting children in your professional care isn’t a thought crime. It’s an actual crime. That’s why anyone in the field who isn’t stupid only jokes with like minded people in private.

See, this is where you made your mistake. If you'd come in and said "Hey, you know you can't joke about this shit where people can hear you or you could lose your job," you might have been able to pull it off. But you went full "YOU SHOULD BE IN JAIL FOR POSTING ANON ONLINE THAT YOU HAVE THOUGHTS!!! BAD THOUGHTS!!!" And yeah, the Anti contingent and that one anon that thinks all teachers should be in jail because they were bullied in school one time are eating it up, but everyone else is watching you and wondering when the off-beat swaying to Ave Maria is going to start.

No it's not... At least in the US, you can't be arrested for joking about hurting children in your professional care. It violates the first amendment. You may lose your job, but that's not a legal thing.

It is not a crime, but it is a fireable offense.
