Re: Crime question

I had a friend that used to like to ask edgy type of questions like this. Like "you can cure Insert Painful Deadly Incurable Disease but you have to murder your parents to do it, what do you do?" and I never really got the point of it. Like, it's just an unnecessarily emotionally painful thought exercise. But then we talked about it a bit and he didn't get that it actually genuinely upset me, like it would plummet my mood and bother me for awhile, because he didn't work like that. He genuinely thought they were fun thought experiments. We lost touch over the years just because that's how life goes, but I always think of him fondly when these type of threads come up.

Well, this one is a Cost / benefit question that reveals a little something about the person. Like, my first thought is "Littering" Low benefit, but even lower cost. But you never know when the true ~altruist~ is gonna come out of the woodwork with "r*pe"

I’m glad it’s a fond reminder.

And glad to hear that I’m not the only one who really does get a bit upset by engaging with those hypotheticals.

Yeah I learned early that most people don't really think too deeply about these things and that I am a tad overly sensitive. But I tend to think of them very realistically, and that comes with very real feelings.
