maybe unpopular opinion, but I disagree, OP. yeah, EoE movie had a lot of ???? stuff in it. but I still like it better as an ending than the new EVA movies. imo Evangelion deserves its bad ending, and EoE was perfect as one.
I lowkey understand the ending of the new movies was like, a metaphor for moving on from Eva in real world, the ending song was great, etc etc, but idk.
End of Evangelion was horrifying in many ways, and it feels like the most right thing to me. I do understand not liking it tho, it really had very little sense in a lot of its parts.

I watched the series and EOE in a dark headspace as a teenager, and I don't know if it would resonate with me the same way on a rewatch years later. It would be cool to revisit but I kind of like the memory of the visceral emotions I had watching it as a depressed teen drunk off my ass, lol.

I agree that the shorter seasons make it harder for some shows to really click. You need a good run to figure out all the kinks!

I agree. But the thing is streaming services basically make their money off announcing shows and getting press and buzz, not actually getting people to watch shows.

Yeah, you're probably right. The new format of TV has really changed a lot of things, and one of the biggest changes is that shows don't really get the luxury of time (and episodes) to hit their stride or find their footing the way they used to. I keep thinking of Star Trek:TNG and how even hardcore fans aren't enthusiastic about the earlier seasons. Nowadays, you don't get 2-3 seasons to adjust and get good.

Kinda same. I'm never sure whether to call myself a 'fan' or not because I'm fine with catching clips and highlights once in a while and have never actually joined a streamer's streams.

Good on them for the endurance but I can't imagine tuning into something live for 4+ hours.

I was so sad when they aged Jon up, just because it meant Jon/Damien was off the table. I haven't read since before Jon came out, so I don't know anything about his boyfriend, but I always loved the idea of Jon and Damien growing up together and falling in love.
