The thought of live-streams horrifies me. No real plan except to shoot the shit with people, usually nothing to do with the content I came to see about? Reminds of those dumbass podcasts that run an hour and a half longer than necessary because they can't bring themselves to edit out their long conversations about what's been going on in their lives, all there with little injokes that can't possibly amuse anyone but themselves.

(By talking about their lives I don't mean like, hey guys this is why we haven't been posting as much or we're choosing to pivot because this and that. It's, "hey bro, how's Katrina's cucumber plant issue?" Who the fuck is Katrina, why do I care about her cukes? and "Dude we went and saw that exhibition on garlic milling through the centuries, you totally have to see it, here's why" It's a fucking ELECTRONIC DANCE MUSIC PODCAST WHY WOULD I CARE?!)

see, this is me. the only livestreams I've actively chosen to watch are people in Japan walking or biking, exploring an area I've never seen, and it's great when it's 2am cold and snowy here but lovely warm sunshine in Japan. but I don't use any chats so now they're talking to people in an invisible chat and asking about regulars' doings and it takes me right out, because it heightens the awkward parasocial quality of terminal online-ness. I ain't here to pretend I'm friends with walkaround guy, I'm here to see the samurai house your caption promised.
