I am assuming these are Jurassic Park movies of which you speak?

But yeah, I agree with the general philosophy

(Anonymous) 2024-10-21 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I assumed Jurassic World.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-21 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Both Jurassic Park and Jurassic World. I love them all. Yes, even JP 3.

On a related note..

... TF One totally rocks!

Ten out of ten BADASSATRONS!

(Anonymous) 2024-10-21 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh. The Jurassic World movies were/are boring as fuck. Like, if the companies want to make them and people want to shell out $30 to go see one... fine, I guess. No accounting for taste.

I’m sorry, but how are you paying $30 to watch a movie? It’s $12 where I live but it’s $8 for matinees and all day Tuesday. That’s pretty standard pricing across the major cinema chains.

And even if you are paying extra for an evening weekend showing in 3d, it still doesn't make 30.

DA

1 ticket for a Thursday evening show at the nearest big new-release theater near me is $22. Matinees are a little cheaper but getting any snack at all is still probably gonna take you up close to $30 (and I can't always go to matinees since I work). Even the cheaper non-chain theater is still $15 a ticket for GA.

What chain is that? They seriously don’t have a day where matinee pricing applies all day? That’s standard even at theaters that have IMAX screens (but it doesn’t apply to the IMAX screens, they have a different reduced rate).

I have no interest in these movies AT ALL by I am glad they give you pleasure.

*signed, someone who saw the Ralph Fiennes/ Uma Thurman Avengers movie in the theatre FOUR TIMES and enjoyed it every time*

Hell yeah for fun and goofy movies

(Anonymous) 2024-10-22 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
I agree. A movie doesn't have to be good to be fun and entertaining.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-22 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
I mean, would we even have a MST3K economy and traffic in cult classics if we didn't have 60+ years of awful movies that are fun to watch? Star Wars, the movie that changed how movies are both made and marketed, is a mediocre script that's hella fun to watch.

Granted I don't travel in movie snob circles and haven't watched anything in a theatre since Black Panther, but there seems to be an awful lot of dumb schlock put out on all platforms that, in the end, isn't fun to watch, but any criticism pointing that out gets taken personally by fans. It's hard when the collective internet is talking about how shit your fave is, you can't help but wonder about your own personal tastes. I'm with you OP on just having fun and liking what you like, but human beings will actually never stop being personally offended that someone called their favorite movie "kinda dumb."

(My favorite movie is "Twister." It's very dumb. I'm okay with that)

(Anonymous) 2024-10-22 10:27 am (UTC)(link)

The problem is when that's about all you get in theaters and it takes space from more interesting/diverse movies.
