I was late to the game on LJ, but DeviantART and some forums was where I thrived. Nowhere else. It's been over 15 years and it's too different now, I'm too paranoid now.

Not sure if this is what you meant, but paranoia is part of it for me because I hate how open fandom spaces are now. I liked my private individual fandom forums and friendlocked journals and separate spaces and smaller communities. Everything is just thrown out into the void for all the world to see/find now.

It's not, but I do relate. Niche stuff breaks containment and the wrong people see it too often on modern social media.

Current fandom spaces, other than Discord perhaps, feel too much like shouting into the void and hoping someone shouts back, rather than having a conversation in a set-aside room with anyone. And too often someone who you didn't intend to hear you responds instead. It's just exhausting, rather than the fun it used to be. But it's not just the spaces that have changed, but myself and the fandoms I am into. There's no way to go back to what used to be.

That's a goddamn mood.
