My deep dark fandom secret I've held onto for years: I cannot stand Zachary Quinto. I feel bad because it's not him as a person, I just cannot stand his face or voice or the way he speaks. So while this show looks good and I've heard good things, it's a hard pass for me.

I do hope the fandom picks up for your sake though! Just because I don't like it doesn't mean I don't want the show to be successful for those that do enjoy it.

Same! He has one of those faces.

I feel the same way about Andrew Scott. He's a lovely person, I am sure, but I really just do not like watching him or hearing him speak.

That was always Tobey Maguire for me. There's just something about his face and voice that makes me irrationally angry.

I gave it a try for Zachary. I watched the first four eps. But the whole 'and then yes, this person survives, but their life is incredibly messed up and here are the workarounds the doctor helps figure out so they can cope' ... well, I found that incredibly depressing. And the bride getting dragged off to be prosecuted though I assume will be found not guilty for medical reasons but in the meantime, all the stress and havoc that will cause her life... I gave up! The endings are just too miserable. Do another secret if it starts having happier endings, I might give it another try.

OMG YESSSS! I posted a couple times about this show the other day. It's my new obsession, and a rare instance where it appears that a pairing I'm shipping will become canon, which is super exciting.

I hope for your sake it survives! I think the biggest problem with NBC shows is that they don’t have much of anything else on Peacock. Only a few million Americans watch cable/satellite/terrestrial tv with any kind of regularity. The networks can’t survive unless they are on a good streaming platform.

I watched the first episode, but I found Quinto's character really irritating so I didn't watch past that.

I dunno. I watched the first three episodes and it's pretty schlocky. Like a soap opera with the mom engagement and the dad flashbacks. And Quinto isn't attractive enough for me to watch his face so much, although the neurosurgeon he's so rude to is very hot.

The books this is inspired from all talk about rare-ish conditions rather than day-to-day medicine. Is the show like that too?

This is the first time I've heard of this show.
I'm already on episode 2.

I've been looking for a new medical show. Thanks, anon!
