Can I recommend Melody of a Memory (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5045006/1/Melody_of_a_Memory)? It's akin to a "where are they now" setup, wherein Ash is now a jaded near-30 year old Pokemon Master.
Also, anything in Stormy1x2 (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/7929/Stormy1x2)'s Rich and Intrepid Souls arc is pleasant to read, imo, as it takes a more realistic take on their relationship. As opposed to, let's say, having them throw themselves into eachother's arms out of UST or nowhere.
