Bacon is okay by itself, but I don't like putting bacon in other foods. I don't want my burgers, pizza or anything else to taste of bacon, which is predominantly smoke and salt.

This is pretty much me. In my experience bacon used as a topping/extra is often just so insipid and bland compared to good bacon that it may as well not be there and is just a vaguely chewy obstacle.
