I see it as a euphemism. People will easily state as loud as they can that they're anti-woke because it's become acceptable to say so, people still won't so easily claim they're racist or homophobic. Also phrasing it as if racist, homophobic, etc. assholes were fighting against something that is seen as a threat makes them seem like they have the good role. So both terms, woke and anti-woke have become more widely used by those assholes, which spread to offline and online media and is now also used by people who aren't those assholes.
