Well, since chinese period pieces are in vogue I'd probably try something along the lines of how pissed off I am by Jugde Di - a character known for a long strong luxurious thick black beard - being given a wispy little goatee in the Zhou Yiwei tv series.

I'm even too lazy to word the secret, but all the pieces are there. It's an outrage to the character.

Beards in CN period pieces are often a tragedy, even more so than some of the wigs.
