Fridge Ruins My Night, Probably My Day Tomorrow, Scene at 11

So I came home earlier after being gone for 10 hours to a horrible smell in my kitchen. I came in, checked the fridge, and it was busted. The lights were on but it wasn't cold. I got ready for my weekly roleplaying game and sat down for the three hour session.

When we broke later, I got up to go to the restroom and when I walked out of the living room I immediately started coughing and realized then that I had developed a terrible headache. I also smelled the horrible smell much more strongly (it smelled like strong hand sanitizer to me, or something almost sweet but not?). My RP group convinced me to call my dad and he told me that the fridge doesn't have antifreeze in it so what I am smelling is probably Freon? He told me to pack up my cat and go to my parents' house for the night after opening all the windows.

I am sitting in my mom's living room and my head feels somewhat better and I finally stopped coughing but I left my sleep meds at home and I couldn't go back for them (long windy roads with nowhere to turn around, plus my poor cat was screaming her head off because she hasn't left the house since I got her in May). I did remember to get my psych meds for tomorrow and my painkillers and anxiety meds are always in my purse.

I just feel so stupid for basically sitting there and letting myself get poisoned for almost four hours because I didn't notice what was happening and had convinced myself that it was all fine.

It is pretty funny you came home to a busted fridge and a horrible smell and did nothing. But I'm happy you realized something was wrong and got good advice. Good on your RP group for pointing you in the right direction and I'm happy you and the cat had somewhere safe to go. Hope you're all right and the whole poison fridge thing gets sorted.
