Meanwhile childhood!me is very happy about it, because they were one of my first OTPs. It has happened with other ships I loathed, though, so I do understand you!

there were a few where the competitor had a rough cook and made legit mistakes, so those I understand, but the ones where the competitor fucking nailed it and the edits of the judges praising it end up fooling you when bobby wins it's like...fuck you and everyone involved. you know Bobby's dish had flaws and still chose it...

It's your choice to avoid author's notes, but it's wild how you assume the only content in there is authors beating themselves up.

You do you, but I really don't get this? Like if you open the fic the authors note is just right there (usually). Like, it just seems harder to me to actively NOT read the maybe 10 lines at the top?

And really most of them don't even self flagellate. And sometimes there is important info in there, like planned update scedule, outline for a series or a general vibe the author is going for.

OK thanks for letting us know. I'm still going to ramble on random shit in my author's note. It's a fanfic, I'm going to do whatever I want with it.

Not everyone is going to read every word I write. Not everyone is going to like my author's note. Readers might not even bother to read my fic because of how I tag my fics.
