Granada Homes is best overall, but incomplete and sad to watch towards the end because we know how ill Brett was. Livanov Homes is best "complete" TV series because it covers the whole story from meeting to beekeeping, although it skips many stories. BBC Radio Merrison-Williams is best complete adaptation (but with visuals we have to imagine ourselves) and it smooths out some of the inconsistencies while not papering over some of the cracks.

We have three best classic Holmes series, all of which are better than the modern extruded products. We're lucky.

SA: Plus the Soviet series has a couple of great hugs, and BBC Radio has a proper Garridebs ep, though it walks it back almost immediately with news of Watson's second marriage. Why does no-one give us the full Garridebs experience?
