1. This secret is beautiful

2. I wish I had read this book as a child or teen. I read it in my 30s and while it was fine, I think if I had read it earlier I would have adored it and had a much more impactful experience.

Yeah, Ged's journey feels very much like a teen coming of age drama. The discomfort of home, the excitement of leaving home and the crushing feeling of that first major screw up, and the isolation of trying to fix it on your own, before that feeling of maturity and acceptance at the end.

The world building just supports that perfectly.
